Aims
The Journal of Sanskrit & Indic Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi. The journal aims to promote rigorous, original, and critical research in Sanskrit studies and allied disciplines within the broader framework of Indian intellectual traditions.
The journal seeks to provide a scholarly platform for researchers, academicians, and advanced students to engage with classical Sanskrit texts, theories, and traditions through philological, philosophical, historical, comparative, and interdisciplinary approaches.
It encourages contributions that combine textual fidelity with methodological clarity and theoretical depth, fostering dialogue between traditional śāstric frameworks and contemporary academic inquiry.
Scope
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of research:
- Sanskrit literature: Vedic, epic, purāṇic, kāvya, and post-classical texts
- Indian Darśana and philosophical traditions
- Vyākaraṇa, Nirukta, Śikṣā, Chandas, and allied linguistic disciplines
- Mīmāṃsā, Nyāya, Vaiśeṣika, Sāṅkhya, Yoga, Vedānta, and related systems
- Indian poetics (Kāvyaśāstra), dramaturgy (Nāṭyaśāstra), and aesthetics
- Manuscriptology, textual criticism, and palaeography
- Comparative and interdisciplinary studies involving Sanskrit sources
- Reception, transmission, and interpretation of Sanskrit knowledge systems
