Establishment and Rationale
The Journal of Sanskrit & Indic Studies was established by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi, with the objective of providing a dedicated scholarly platform for high-quality research in Sanskrit studies and allied disciplines. The journal emerged from the long-standing academic tradition of the Department, which has played a significant role in the teaching and research of Sanskrit and Indian intellectual traditions in India and abroad.
Recognising the need for a peer-reviewed academic forum that could accommodate both classical scholarship and contemporary methodological approaches, the journal was conceived as a medium to facilitate critical engagement with Sanskrit texts, theories, and interpretative traditions.
